Readers’ Comments

Dear Dennis,
As I opened your book, a profound wave of goosebumps came over me and my eyes teared up. Your book carries the energy of so much caring, so much love. This energy will also be experienced by every other reader, even if they are not able to distinguish it or even know that it has this energy–like all that matters in our universe, it is the love and light that we send out that matters and that makes the difference – and you are contributing so very much with your book. Thank you my friend. (N.F., South Africa. Reiki Master, Tandem Healer)

Dear Leroy,
      Great book. Great writing.
I loved the human ordinariness of your story. Adi Da Shines through all the more because of your ordinary human limitations which He Showed you by Showing Himself.
Bravo amigo y muchas gracias. (D.R. Sydney, Australia).

Dear Leroy,
I’ve just finished reading your fabulous and inspiring book. Thank you for this brilliant work, it is highly transmissive of the Master’s Grace and incomparable Dharma. It is an exhilarating read and a precious, priceless gift. Thank You! (Michael, Interlaken, Switzerland)

Dear Leroy,
I wanted to tell you that I read you book and loved reading every minute of it. Thank you so much for sharing this journey with Beloved and for being so confessed and “out there” with everything. It did a lot of fill-in for me, since I was involved with the larger community response to Beloved, and to hear your story, someone who was so close to Beloved, helped me connect my own participation more closely to Beloved’s actual Bodily Company. (M.A. Washington)

Dear Dennis,
Thank you for bringing me into your world with the gift of this book and the opportunity to meet with you about it. It was fascinating for me and definitely came at the perfect time… funny how that happens…maybe not funny, rather, sublime. (A.R. Oregon, USA)

Hi Leroy,
Read your book .. beautiful, read the whole book in one sitting. Could not put it down. Could relate to many aspects of your story–particularly the parts pertaining to love and the wound of love and the vulnerability in yourself that you came to realize. I found myself re-living, feeling the truth of it. Thank you. Two thumbs up! (E.V. Colorado, USA)

Hi Leroy,
I just finished reading your book. My strongest reaction to it is…wow. Just “wow.” What an amazing story you have, both from before you met Adi Da and after. And I think you have done a beautiful job of telling it. Thank you SO much for giving me the honor of reading it, especially before it is even published. I enjoyed your story immensely and felt so much gratitude that you decided to tell it. Every bit of it was interesting and engaging to me, and I was moved by your openness and willingness to share so many intimate details of your life and of your time with your guru. (D.E. Texas, USA)

Dear Leroy,
Thank you for the grace of your book. I felt Adi Da every moment I was reading those 445 pages. I marveled at His Presence. You mentioned that you are amazed by Kathleen’s communication skills, well I marvel at yours. What you did was, I think, almost impossible to articulate. Being in Bhagavan’s Presence is so complex, multi-dimensional, and continuously shattering. How does one put words to that? I think Adi Da came through and did it for you. I so hope this work of Love serves countless beings. (C.A. California, USA)

Dear Leroy,
Reading your account of your 30 years with Adi Da was both mesmerizing and thoroughly enjoyable. I read it every spare moment and couldn’t wait for the next chapter! The way you write with such honesty and human vulnerability, telling of the constant challenges in this sacred relationship with Adi Da is not an ordinary, everyday story. Reading of the great love and heart attraction to him which kept you in this unending, but graceful ordeal kept me on the edge of my seat! Thank you so much for this wonderful book. (J.S. California, USA)

Dear Leroy,
I’ve only read the first one hundred pages and WOW! If this was the end of the book it is already invaluable to me. Adi Da’s Play in your life is wondrous. Who but the Divine could take you through this kind of “Ordeal to Become Human”? Thank you a million for writing it. Your book came to me just at the right time and I am deeply appreciative that you have shared this with me. (M.B. Texas, USA)

Dear Dennis,
I finished your book and enjoyed every minute of it! I felt the heart connection and it strengthened my heart connection to my own teacher; so reading it “in love” was a joy. I know your book will be received by different readers in so many different ways depending on where they are on their own path. Had I read this several years ago, I would have missed the being “in love” aspect of it because I hadn’t gotten there yet and it would have been only a concept that I tried to figure out. Once it happened – the journey from the head to heart – it is totally different – an experience not a concept. Blessings to you for sending me this gift, and Blessings for it’s arrival into the world. (L.S. Michigan, USA)

Dear Leroy,
You have touched my feeling so much in reading your story. Having known you for so many of those years, it is wonderful to see it manifest in words to all. May it be blessed! (R.E. California, USA)

Dear Dennis,
I am now just half way through your wonderful account in “Loves Sacrifice”. Your book is so wonderfully written…I know this because throughout I feel Adi Da’s Presence and even Transmission. I always would wonder about the life of the Community in those early years on Naituba. This is truly an inspired account and an eye-opener for me. I give your book an enthusiastic “thumbs way up” and would recommend it to any aspirant wanting to learn more about the life and right approach/understanding to/of the Great Master Adi Da Samraj and the Great Sacrifice and Teaching Demonstration He lived in His Community. Your book sums it up for me, He is Love’s Sacrifice. (R.E Washington, USA)

Dear Leroy,
I’ve read your manuscript a couple of times now. It’s a wonderful work, exactly what I think devotees like yourself, who lived with Bhagavan, need to write. I’ve kept my comments short, in the form of an endorsement. This is a great gift you’re creating for our Master and humanity. Thank you. (Hugh O’Doherty, Senior associate, Cambridge Leadership Associates, Massachusetts, USA)

Love’s Sacrifice is not an ordinary book. It is a spiritual treasure; a unique story of one man’s journey to understand that love is ultimate truth, realized through a life lived in relationship with the great Avatar Adi Da Samraj. This is a raw, vulnerable account of what life in the company of the Avatar both demands and offers–the sacrifice of the illusion of separate self and the grace of liberation in love-bliss. It is a work of deep courage in which the author holds nothing back about the highs and lows of his struggle. The book is finally a rich testament to love as the only reality and a loving tribute to Adi Da Samraj, the one who revealed that the “struggle” was unnecessary from the beginning.

Dear Dennis,
I have just finished reading your book! It was wonderful! Thank you! I am so grateful that you have written it!
I deeply wept at the end of it as it helped me to get in touch with more processing of Adi Da’s passing. I really appreciated your open hearted and vulnerable frankness and honesty in the book. That is what it is all about to me. Only in our vulnerability and intimacy do we feel happy, feeling and in love with our Beloved Heart Master and all of life!
Reading your book was like reading a great thriller! I couldn’t put it down – read the whole thing in just a few days. I hope that many many people will get to read it and it serve many people to be receptive to the incomparable relationship with Beloved Adi Da. (K.B., Melbourne, Australia)

Dear Leroy,
Just wanted to know I finished reading your book. Really good! I definitely enjoyed it a lot.
It’s not really a “light read”. It is quite serious, and there is a lot of depth there. I feel it has actually affected me in ways perhaps I don’t even know yet. Certainly the depth of your sadhana and your relationship with Beloved comes through very clearly, so the book has a lot of emotional force. Also a bit of an eye opener for me as I am one of those “Adidam naifs” who never really spent that much time around Beloved and so did not really get the full impact of the emotional-sexual sadhana that devotees who were closer to Him received. Nor would I have been able to handle it, I don’t believe. So it did serve to help me understand the kinds of demands Bhagavan Made on His devotees in that area, and an idea of what those requirements were (especially around promiscuity, that you mentioned).
Besides that I am just really proud that a devotee has finally “come out of the closet” and spoken openly and publicly about their love for their Master. I hope many others will follow suit. Much love to you, (J.S. Massachusetts, USA)

Dear Leroy,
I’m writing to let you know how grateful I am to be able to drop out of everything and to go commune with Beloved when I take time here and there to read a few pages of your book. Reading it allows me to connect up directly to His Presence and reminds me constantly of It. It is happening, it seems, at a time when I feel so much fright, fear and stress in my life. The reading is allowing me to observe and recognize at a very deep level the nature of the ego and is also allowing me to be able to rest as that and be invaded and washed by the tremendous Presence of Who He Is. It is miraculous. Thank you for sharing your story. (D.B. California, USA)

Dear Leroy,
I would be honored to say something to your potential readers about your book. What an enjoyable, yet profound journey I enjoyed when reading Love’s Sacrifice. You provided me with a tremendous gift by sharing such intimately held gems from your spiritual journey, rich with universal insight into love, life, spirituality, and, especially, the amazing life and work of Adi Da. Your gift as a storyteller made the book a pleasure to read, and your insight into the human condition and depth of humility were inspiring. (G.S Washington DC, USA)

Dear Leroy,
I have just read your book and really loved it. Thank you so much for writing it. It made me feel so close to Beloved. And your confessions about the limitations in your feeling that you have struggled with over the years resonated profoundly with me. I don’t have a British or military parent but I might as well have. I guess maybe NEW England counts! (M.W. Vermont, USA)

Dear Leroy,
Thank you for the opportunity to review your book on your life with the Guru, who I feel is the greatest Spiritual Master known to the world. Very few books do I find of interest that are not direct communications from Him–this is certainly one of them. While reading I found deeper meaning to His Play with His devotees. The story of your direct experience was enriching and added depth to many significant times that I frequently hear mentioned in conversations with devotees, not only a more in-depth feeling, but often times I found myself learning an important lesson regarding how I, as a devotee, should respond to His Play and Presences in my life. THANK YOU AGAIN, and best wishes for a successful presentation to everyone, including all the people who don’t yet know about Him. (R.B. California, USA)
